The members of Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, welcome you to the chapter’s website.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D. C. in 1908.  It is the oldest Greek – letter organization established by African American college-educated women.

Tau Omega Chapter was chartered in May, 1925 and is the oldest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in the New York metropolitan area and is the fourth oldest graduate chapter in the Notable North Atlantic Region.  Since its chartering in 1925, Tau Omega has focused on serving the Harlem Community.  Tau Omega balances local service programs with international program initiatives to meet the needs of the Harlem community.  Tau Omega continues decades-long local programs such as Books for Babies at Harlem Hospital, Days of Cheer at the Harlem Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, and sponsorship of the AKA Spirit Little League Team while implementing international programs.

The theme of our International President Dr. Glenda Glover’s Administration for 2018 – 2022, Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service.℠” our call to Action our call to Service which provides us with an opportunity to further address community needs with programs in five target areas – HBCU 4 Life, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts! and Global Impact.  Tau Omega promotes and delivers local and international service programs through awareness, advocacy and action.

Tau Omega’s membership has also served in a variety of professions that have created a legacy of leadership in Harlem and helped to shape the community.  

We hope that you explore Tau Omega’s history as well as recent activities on this website and that you visit often to stay abreast of future events.  You are invited to join us at our service projects and workshops as well as community and fundraising events.
