Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has done their best to live up to the ideals of the organization by being "Supreme in Service to All Mankind." We also strive to leave the world better than we found it.

Our Programs include:

  • Mobile X-ray program (1950 – 1960)
  • AKA day in Congress (1964)
  • Participation in the Formation of the National Council of Negro Women (1935)
  • Established the Sorority’s first 501c3, The Tau Omega Charitable Trust Fund (1968)
  • Big Sister Program for girls 12 through 18 years of age (1980’s)
  • Teen Parent Support Program with PS 911 (1987 until the school’s closing in 2008)
  • Salute to the Congressional Black Caucus (1971)
  • Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at Carnegie Hall (1968)
  • Sound Experience Concerts at Mother Zion AME Church and the Aaron Davis Halls (1980-1995)
  • African Village Projects in Senegal, West Africa (1984-87)
  • Books for Babies (1990 – present
  • Sponsor of the AKA Spirits Team (Harlem Little League) (2002 to present)
  • 2010 Census
