In the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, more than 20 million women and girls lack access to essential reproductive health care. Protecting women's rights, particularly abortion rights, was a driving force for voter turnout in recent elections and a motivating issue, especially for young people. Black women also endure disproportionately higher rates of maternal and infant mortality, and poor health outcomes. In New York City, Mayor Adams and NYC's Gender Equity Commission took swift action and launched an agenda to protect and promote women's reproductive rights and healthcare access. This forum will educate and engage participants in critical discussion on effective legislative, policy, and programmatic actions we can take to address the disparities and achieve better outcomes for all.
